Brewer Science bringing new high-tech facility to Vichy

A homegrown technology company is creating dozens of manufacturing jobs in central Missouri.

Rolla-based Brewer Science is expanding north to Maries County.

The company’s CEO, alone with state and local leaders, gathered Tuesday for a groundbreaking ceremony at the site in Vichy next to Rolla National Airport.

The new 25,000 square-foot facility will create 65 new high-tech jobs in the next five years, according to the company.

Founder and CEO Dr. Terry Brewer said instead of building a manufacturing site overseas, he wants to build it in Missouri to recommit to the community.

“We’re doing carbon nanotubes, which will be beneficial to health applications, and we’re going to electronic packaging that will allow so that your cell phones can be flatter and faster,” said Brewer.

U.S. Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer, who helped facilitate a $1 million federal grant for infrastructure news said, “I think rural Missouri is a hidden gem in the state. In terms of the work ethic of our people, the quality of the work that can be done.”

The facility is expected to cost about $20 million to build.

“In my heart, I wanted to build where I can make a difference…. so somebody’s child, grandchild can come back to where they grew up and still have a life and career going forward,” said Brewer.

Brewer Science is one of the biggest private sector employers in Phelps County, with over 30 years in technology innovations.
