Boone County fights violent crime
On Friday,Boone County officials are asking the community to fight back against violent crimes by speaking out.
Prosecuting attorney Dan Knight addressed recenthigh-profilecrime to address police needs.
Knightsaidfightingviolentcrime is an ongoing discussion for local law enforcement but they still need help.
He is calling the public to come forward with any information they know about open cases.
A year ago, Knight notice an increase in “shots fired” cases in Boone County.
Ten days ago, another police “shorts fired” report came.
through — aman was shot dead in his home in Columbia.
“There is no magic wand out there we can wave in law enforcement and just getridof violent crimes, these shots firedcases,” Knightsaid.
Police can’t be everywhere all the time and say the public can help be the eyes and ears of violent crime around Boone County.
The public calling local authorities can give police clues to solve cases, in extreme cases, the main evidence to bring an offender to justice.
