Federal lawmakers work on legislation for airport towers

Federal lawmakers are working to stop cuts from happening at airport towers across the country.

The tower at Columbia Regional Airport is one of more than a hundred that is set to close nationwide as part of the sequestration cuts.

Rep. Vicky Hartzler is now co-sponsoring bipartisan legislation to restore funding.

Hartzler says, “This bill reprioritizes funding within the current Federal Aviation Administration budget to restore funding to the contract tower program for the duration of the fiscal year 2013. I am glad to be a part of this fight, because preserving jobs while protecting the safety of America’s flying public is the right thing to do.”
