Police identify body of a woman found near Jefferson City railroad tracks

Just before 8 a.m. Sunday, the body 39-year-old Christie Ottowas found in Jefferson City on West McCarty Street near Industrial Drive under the overpass.

Jefferson City police said the death is not associated with any train.

As of 2:30 p.m., police were doing leg work to investigate if the death was suspicious or not.

At that time, sergeants said it could go either way, however by 2:45 p.m. Cpt. Doug Shoemaker confirmed they were investigating a possible suicide.

At that point, Cpt. Shoemaker said no foul play was involved.

As of Monday morning, police say the investigation is still ongoing.
