Missouri Department of Transportation awards contract to fix rockslide

The Missouri Department of Transportation announced Monday it has awarded a $600,000 contract to a Mid-Missouri company to fix falling rock on Highway 63.

Columbia-based Boone Construction Company will work to stabilize a rock bluff on Highway 63 near the Boone and Callaway county line.

MoDOT has kept one lane of Highwy 63 closed near that bluff ever since rocks began falling last week.

Construction crews will begin work on the bluff Tuesday in order to prevent loose rock from falling onto the highway again.

One lane of the highway will remain closed for about a week and crews will have to periodically close Highway 63 throughout the project, which is expected to be completed by May.
