Snow Collapses Several Buildings

Crews around Mid-Missouri handled dozens of downed power lines and collapsed buildings Tuesday. Ceilings of multiple businesses fell in, and several homeowners had trees crash onto their homes. The first incident took place at the BreakTime off Vandiver and Paris Road in northeast Columbia. The canopy over the pumps caved in around 6 a.m.People in the Parkade neighborhood in north Columbia also had multiple trees fall on their homes. One woman had two trees block her front door and fall against power lines. The roof at the former Moser’s off Business Highway 54 in Fulton also caved-in around noon on Tuesday. Nobody was hurt, but engineers had to check the building’s safety.South of Jefferson City, the ceiling of Pro-Water Sports off Highway 54 was also hanging down when workers arrived. Employees tried scraping off the snow to relieve the pressure.And in Sedalia, a warehouse lost its roof and front wall. A neighbor says a large bang woke her up and she later realized it was the ceiling falling in. Clean-up workers were on site to reconstruct the wall to keep people from getting too close to the damage.
