Bruce Cole in Court
***UPDATE 11:05 A.M.***The court addressed three issues on Thursday. One is a request for a change of venue. The state advocated St. Charles County because of its access to a wider population pool and larger airport. Lawyers for Bruce Cole want Kirksville in Adair County because they can keep the same judge.Another item was bond reduction. Prosecutors maintained Cole is a flight risk. They argued if he traveled across the U.S. border, especially into Mexico, he could slip past authorities after reaching his international contacts. The defense said Cole has been cooperative and has surrendered his passport.Cole’s attorneys also wanted the judge to keep family members and federal witnesses out of the trial, including investigators at the Securities and Exchange Commission. They asked Cole to appear in street clothes and ban TV cameras from the courtroom. The judge did not rule on any of the motions.***ORIGINAL STORY***Former Mamtek CEO Bruce Cole is scheduled to be back in court Thursday.Cole is charged with theft and securities fraud over the failed Mamtek project, which never came to Moberly.Cole is still trying to get his bond lowered.
