Man Assaults Women with Knife

Sunday night Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Demaret Drive for a male overhead making threats to assault someone with a knife.It happened during a disturbance in the 700 Block of Demaret Drive. When deputies arrived they learned 29-year-old Larry Gene Parnell of Columbia was arguing with a female associate. During the argument, Mr. Parnell punched the woman in the stomach and threatened her with knife. At one point Parnell placed the knife to the woman’s throat while threatening to kill her.Parnell also assaulted another woman in the home when he believed she called 911. He then told her that if she called 911 he would assault her with the knife.Parnell was arrested for third-degree assault, domestic violence, second-degree assault, and armed criminal action.His bond has been set for the two assault charges at $5,500.00. Bond has yet to be set for the armed criminal action count.
