Man Arrested After Firing Gun

A Columbia man is behind bars Monday after he allegedly used a shotgun to assault relatives.According to police, 20-year-old Timothy Burkhardt displayed a shotgun in a threatening manner toward his mother and another man inside a home in the 2800 block of South Providence Road Sunday evening.Burkhart allegedly fired two rounds from the shotgun. Once inside the home at a door and another outside the residence around the back of the house.Cops say Burkhart fled the scene, but was located in Ashland. He was taken into custody by the Ashland Police Department and the Boone County Sheriff’s Department. Burkhart was arrested on two counts of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of second degree domestic assault. His bond is set at $13,500.
