Children’s Home Nears Completion

The first phase of the new Ronald McDonald House in Columbia was officially completed Wednesday.The $2.6 million project will include 18 bedrooms in the 19,000 square foot home. The exterior and shell of the home are now completed.Phase two, which includes the interior, will begin once enough money is raised. Officials need around $1 million to finish the house.The Ronald McDonald House, which provides a place for families to stay while their children are treated, is located within walking distance of the Children’s Hospital. Last year alone, 361 families spent time at the current house.
