Tuesday’s Storms Cause Damage

Severe storms moving through Mid-Missouri Tuesday afternoon caused damage in portions of the region.The most damage appears to have occurred just west of Jefferson City. Storm reports show power lines down near St. Martins, seven utility poles down near Apache Flats, and an uprooted tree that blocked traffic on Highway 50 near Business 50.Emergency officials say strong winds around 1:30 p.m. caused the damage in Apache Flats, St. Martins, Hemwick and the Bender Lake areas.Ameren Missouri reported nearly 1,200 customers were without power in Cole County at the height of the storms, including Pioneer Trail Elementary School in Jefferson City. Seven utility trucks are helping to restore power Tuesday evening and linemen will continue working until all customers have power.
