Thermostat Wires Blamed for Fire

A nursing and rehab facility in Fulton was damaged Monday night when wires in the thermostat started a fire. It happened in the 1500 block of North Bluff Street at around 10 p.m. Firefighters found a moderate amount of smoke inside the building and the thermostat on fire. Crews only needed a portable extinguisher to put the fire out, and used fans to blow the smoke out of the building. The investigation into the fire found that arcing wires in the thermostat caused the fire. Damage to the building has been estimated at $10,000. No one was hurt; everyone safely evacuated when the fire triggered alarms.
