Police Chase Ends in DWI Arrest

Callaway County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a vehicle parked at the intersection of Highway AD and Highway C in Hams Prairie early Friday morning. The driver, Shane Vandelicht, was unresponsive until deputies tried to make contact with him. Vandelicht sped away, leading the deputy on a chase along Highway C, towards Fulton. Another deputy was able to set up spike strips ahead of the suspect, which stopped the vehicle and allowed officers to take Vandelicht into custody. Vandelicht was charged with driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and careless and imprudent driving. He had bonded out of jail by 10:20 Friday morning. Callaway County authorities say the investigation in ongoing.
