Developers Request Annexation
Columbia’s Planning and Zoning Commission heard a controversial plan Thursday night, proposed for the south side of town. Crockett Engineering made a presentation to annex 35 acres of land on Route K, south of the intersection of Old Plank Road, Providence Road, and Highway 163. The additional land request would allow the proposed housing development to connect to the city’s sewer system. Southside Trail Estates wants to build single family homes in the proposed subdivision. Neighbors in the area oppose the project because of its proximity to Rock Bridge State Park, and they say the development will cause traffic problems.
