Car Drives into Daycare
***UPDATE 5:35 P.M.***Crews were on scene for about two hours. Captain John Metz said firefighters had to shore up the building before taking out the car, because everything could collapse.The damage is anywhere from $8,000 to $10,000 according to the owner Paul Prevo.Prevo said, “We used to have all of our infants in here, we just opened up our new building about a month ago.”He also added, “It’s a little bit of a disappointment, but we are glad nobody was in the building and we are glad nobody was seriously hurt, we are very fortunate that we did have the second place for the children to go.”The drivers claims he was swerving to avoid an animal, but the official cause of the accident is still under investigation.****ORIGINAL STORY***No one was hurt when a car crashed into the Tiger Tots daycare on Paris Road in Columbia about 5:45 a.m. Monday.Police said no one was in the daycare at the time, and the driver was okay. Officers told ABC 17 News the man was on his way to work and swerved to avoid hitting an animal in the road.The daycare is open today, but children are being moved to a different location from where the crash happened.
