New York (CNN) — The past several weeks have brought a rash of dire warnings about artificial intelligence posing existential risks to humanity.

A string of workers have resigned from leading AI labs over concerns around AI potentially causing human extinction. Some AI leaders have called to slow down its development. Yet others say these fears are overblown and no new regulations are needed to keep AI safe.
