Weekly event planned for Wednesdays at free lunch sites in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

PowerHouse Community Development hosted its first Summer Weekly Pop-Up event today.

PowerHouse Director Charles Stephenson says the pop-ups will give kids the opportunity to experience fun activities like they would at a summer camp. He says the group though about parents who can't always afford to send their kids to camp.

"We thought we'd bring camp to them," Stephenson says.

The group is teaming up with the city of Columbia, Columbia Parks and Recreation, Columbia Public Schools, and Rock the Community to hold the events on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. The pop-up events are scheduled to run through August 3.
