Fourth Missouri case of COVID-19 located in Henry County
HENRY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Missouri state officials said a presumptive-positive case of the novel coronavirus is in Henry County.
Governor Mike Parson announced two new presumptive-positive cases in the state Friday. While he confirmed the other was in St. Louis County, he could not yet say where this case was located as they were still notifying those involved.
According to the Department of Health and Senior Services, the patient in Henry County was originally hospitalized at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri, before being transferred on March 8 to another facility where they are currently.
DHSS said it has not yet confirmed how the virus was transmitted in the case.
"Golden Valley Memorial Hospital is being placed on diversion for emergency services and has been advised to not admit new patients," DHSS said in a news release. "While awaiting confirmation of test results from the CDC, the Henry County Health Center will treat this presumptive case as positive and follow CDC guidelines to protect public health."
Officials have sent the test to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for confirmation. Health officials said they are working to identify close contacts to "monitor for symptoms and contain spread. "
DHSS has tested a total of 94 individuals statewide. Ninety of the individuals tested negative.
