Tracking a stretch of summer like heat this week

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cool with lows in the lower 50s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and warmer with highs in the mid-80s.

EXTENDED: Summer is going to hold on strong this week with temperatures creeping back up into the mid-80s tomorrow. We'll start off nice and cool in the lower 50s, but it will be our last fall like morning for awhile. High pressure is in control all week, with highs getting into the upper 80s to around 90 through the end of the work week. Thankfully, dew points will be low in the 40s so we won't be dealing with a double whammy of heat and humidity. This weekend, I'll be tracking a weak front on Saturday that could bring a few more clouds and a few showers to the northern half of the area, but most of us stay dry with continued heat. I have our forecast highs right at 90 on Saturday and Sunday. Our average last 90 degree day is 9/14, but the latest in Columbia was recorded on October 23, 1939, so climatologically we could have a ways to go. The current trend through the rest of September is warmer and drier than normal.
