State rep. disappointed in judge’s decision to allow lawsuit

State Rep. Cheri Toalson Reisch told ABC 17 News she was disappointed in a judge’s recent decision to allow a lawsuit against her.

In a statement, Reisch called the lawsuit, which was filed after she blocked a constituent on Twitter, frivolous.

“I am prepared and looking forward to go to trial in Kansas City Federal Court on March 29, 2019, on this politically motivated suit,” Reisch said. “The new term is ‘politigation’ where the dirty, liberal playbook is being used in a court venue.”

Reisch also said she filed a bill that would allow campaign funds to be used for litigation.

“If passed, this will not help me but might help others in the future if the left keeps playing dirty,” Reisch said.

On Friday, a federal judge denied Reisch’s request to dismiss the lawsuit. According to the court filing, the judge agreed with a New York court that ruled President Donald Trump can’t block people on his Twitter page, saying the comments section of a tweet by a government official is a public space.
