Tracking the return of cooler air

TODAY: Tuesday is shaping up drier and cooler than Monday. Skies will be clearing through mid-morning where mostly sunny skies will take hold for all across mid-Missouri. Temperatures this afternoon climb into the mid-80s amid a northerly breeze. Dew points fall enough to take the humid feel out of the air.

TONIGHT: Skies remain clear overnight, and winds calm, allowing for effective cooling; into the low 60s overnight. This will also present a chance for patchy fog in low lying areas near water bodies early Wednesday.

EXTENDED: Wednesday will be another cooler feeling day, with low humidity and temperatures in the mid-80s yet again. It may be hard to find a cloud at all on Wednesday. Temperatures and humidity will start a slow climb on Thursday as winds turn back out of the south. This puts us in the upper 80s, if not near 90 for Thursday and Friday. There's some uncertainty in temperatures and precipitation forecasts beyond Friday, as some data suggests we could see chances for rain along a weak cold front Friday night into Saturday. Still, there is little moisture available for this front to work with, and not all data is even in agreement that it will make it here. For now, we'll keep temperatures in the upper 80s, and chances for rain off the forecast, but stay tuned for changes.
