MU officials review recommended policy changes for Greek life

Freshmen living in chapter houses was the focus of MU’s Office of Fraternity and Sorority meeting Friday.

The office’s advisory board recommends all incoming freshmen have a required GPA of 3.0 or higher, be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and not have any MU policy violations to live in chapter houses. The board also recommends a required GPA of 3.0 or higher for the house.

If the new policies were adopted, changes wouldn’t take effect until 2021. According to Friday’s presentation, of the 42 Panhellenic and Interfraternity Council chapters on MU’s campus, only three would be affected by the changes.

The 42-page report also outlined recommended changes on diversity and inclusion, hazing prevention, academic calendar and recruitment and social event and risk management.
