Tracking storms under the afternoon heat, another round by tonight
This Afternoon: A cold front is currently pulling southerly winds into Mid-MO, ramping up the heat and humidity. The feels-like dwells in the mid-90s while pop-up storms fire up all afternoon. The strongest of these will carry a risk of small hail and wind gusts above 50 mph - the severe threat is overall low, however.
Tonight: The cold front begins to dig in from the north this evening and will bring a hefty round of storms heading into Tuesday. These storms will hold the same impacts as the afternoon with some wind gusts possibly exceeding 60 mph.
Extended: Storms exit by the Tuesday commute save for lingering sprinkles to the far south. Localized areas may receive above an inch of rainfall from storms and this will bring relief from the summer heat the rest of the week. Highs trend right on target for the start of September in the mid-80s.
