CPD officer’s social media activity condemned by CPOA

The Columbia Police Officers Association said Saturday it condemns the social media posts made by Columbia Police Lt. Brian Tate.

In a press release, CPOA Executive Director Dale Roberts said Tate’s words were “were unbecoming of a law enforcement professional, are not compatible with the standards of professionalism highly valued by our members, and are not consistent with the principles of the Columbia Police Officers Association.”

Roberts also said the CPOA doesn’t agree with the “implied results” of the Tate investigation because “we hold ourselves to a high standard of professionalism following the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics.”
