Callaway County deputies find nearly a pound of meth
Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism said deputies recovered nearly a pound of methamphetamine valued at thousands on dollars in a drug raid near the Boone County line Wednesday.
“These are not just your everday users or everyday dealers. They are higher up in the drug hierarchy than your everyday street user here in downtown Fulton,” Chism said.
Chism said much of the clientele from the operation came from outside of Callaway County, and much of the meth went to Columbia.
Deputies searched a home on Kelsey Lane north of Stephens in northwest Callaway County at about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday after what the sheriff’s office called an “extensive drug investigation” in a news release. The raid netted five arrests.
Deputies found a “significant amount of methamphetamine,” guns, pills, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $6,000 during the search, according to the release.
Authorities arrested:
Andrea Martin, 43, of Columbia, on suspicion of drug trafficking, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia; Tracey Martin, 19, of Columbia, on suspicion of four counts of felony drug possession, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon; Robert Gibson, 43, of Columbia, on suspicion of drug trafficking, unlawful use of a weapon and paraphernalia possession; Sean Blumer, 23, of Columbia, on suspicion of four counts of felony drug possession and unlawful use of a weapon; Jack Smith, 62, of Columbia, on suspicion of delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon and paraphernalia possession.
Chism said the investigation showed the methemphetamine ring was involved in other types of crimes.
“Just look at the number of firearms that were recovered,” Chism said. “this was a drug search warrant but subsequently we recovered numerous firearms inside the residence. Not the number of firearms your typical tax paying landowner posesses.”
Andrea Martin was in the Callaway County Jail on Wednesday on a $14,500 bond; Tracey Martin was jailed on a $27,000 bond; Gibson was jailed on a $4,500 bond; and Blumer was jailed on a $22,500 bond. Smith was taken to a hospital for treatment of pre-existing medical conditions, the sheriff’s office said.
