Bitterly cold wind chills; snow chance Friday

****WEATHER ALERT DAY TONIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING, AS BITTERLY COLD AIR SETTLES IN OVERNIGHT***

TONIGHT: Clouds will once again clear out through the night as high pressure builds in on the back of an arctic front. Although winds will subside through the evening, it will still be dangerously cold. Overnight lows will bottom out near 4 degrees, with wind chill readings as low as 12 below zero north of I-70. Take the necessary cold weather preparations for Friday morning as you head out the door.

FRIDAY: After a bitterly cold start to the day, clouds will increase and temperatures will rise into the mid-upper 20s with southwest winds at 10-18 mph producing wind chills in the teens. Snow showers are possible in the afternoon and early evening with the best chance in northeastern parts of Mid-Missouri where a dusting is possible.

EXTENDED: Another fast moving upper wave will bring a chance of light snow Saturday morning with the best chance in northeast parts of Mid-Missouri. LIttle to no snow accumulation is expected. Temperatures will reach the low 30s Saturday afternoon under mostly cloudy skies. We could also see rain/ snow mix briefly Sunday morning as another fast moving upper wave moves through. Temperatures will warm into the upper 30s Sunday and Monday with another chance of rain/ snow Monday before arctic air returns. Much colder air moves in Monday, dropping us to 10 Monday night and onlyr reaching the near 20 next Tuesday. Watch ABC 17 News for the latest forecast and check back here for updates.
