Columbia Public Schools to start two hours late
Columbia Public Schools will delay opening Wednesday because of the threat of wintry precipitation overnight.
The school district said it was delaying Wednesday’s start by two hours in a notice to parents sent Tuesday night. CPS was the first district to announce a delayed start. Click here for an updated list of closures and delays.

Two winter weather advisories have been issued for the area, with the western part of the area under an advisory from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. An advisory covering the eastern part of the ABC 17 viewing area is in effect from midnight to 6 a.m.
Forecasters are warning of a possible glaze of ice and up to 2 inches of snow on the ground by Wednesday morning. Rain began to fall Tuesday afternoon while temperatures remained well above freezing. Those temperatures were expected to fall overnight into the 20s with precipitation changing over to snow.
The National Weather Service in the advisory warned commuters to be watchful for slippery road conditions Wednesday morning, especially on elevated surfaces.
