Tracking small but growing chances for rain

TODAY: Another copy and paste day for Wednesday with very similar weather to Monday and Tuesday. Expect partly cloudy skies with highs in the mid-80s this afternoon.

TONIGHT: Skies clear overnight, with temperatures falling into the mid-60s.

EXTENDED: By early Thursday morning, clouds are starting to move in from the north, along with the possibility of some decaying showers. Thunderstorms along a cold front to our north overnight may send some remnant shower activity into northern mid-Missouri, but generally dry weather is forecast for the majority of Thursday. At the same time, more southerly flow is present at the surface, and lower levels of the atmosphere bringing a touch warmer conditions into the afternoon. This will bring more humidity as well, making it feel like low 90s despite highs in the upper 80s. A chance for isolated storms will develop as the previously mentioned cold front inches closer to mid-Missouri on Thursday evening. Overall, Thursday looks mostly dry. Depending on the progress of the cold front, more showers and storms may develop on Friday. Still, activity will be largely isolated, and carry only a small chance in the forecast. If Friday's front clears mid-Missouri, Saturday looks dry. If the front lingers, rain chances do as well. Either way, a resurgence of warmth and moisture comes as the front lifts to the north Saturday into Sunday, and we'll see rain chances return for Sunday. Sunday through Tuesday, our low level jet will bring winds into mid-Missouri that may spur scattered showers and thunderstorms. So rain chances grow into early next week. Temperatures remain somewhat seasonable, and in the 80s through the next 7 days.
