Tracking a wet start to the weekend

Today: Scattered storms approach our westernmost counties by early afternoon and move east before dinnertime this evening. We may see an isolated storm with the potential to create gusty to damaging winds and small hail. Overall, the severe risk is low.

Tonight: Storms will be ongoing into the overnight hours, but are expected to generally weaken. Temperatures fall only into the upper 60s.

Extended: Scattered storms are possible through early Saturday morning, with a lull in activity before noon. By midday, a cold front will begin to move into our western counties, sparking another round of storms in the afternoon. The timing of this may emphasize rain chances for folks east of Hwy 63, and south of I-70. Again, the severe threat is low, but an isolated strong storm is possible with similar threat possibilities as Friday evening. Saturday will be slightly cooler, with temperatures likely reaching the low 80s for highs. Sunday is dry, with clearing skies and highs in the low 80s. Dry and mild weather still looks like the rule next week. Upper level northwest flow leads to more clouds by Wednesday and Thursday, but rain chances look slim.
