Tracking soaking rain and a mild week ahead

TODAY: This morning, showers and storms are ongoing along an upper level boundary draped across mid-Missouri. This boundary will slowly work south, while rain will move along the boundary in a general west to east fashion. This will bring the possibility for more than an inch of rain almost areawide. By noon, the heaviest rainfall will have translated south with the boundary. Later in the afternoon and evening the area is left with straggling showers. Rain and subsequent cloud cover keeps us cool today. Highs are likely anywhere from low-to-mid 70s areawide.

TONIGHT: Cloud cover will linger for much of the evening, and while a shower is possible near the lake overnight, most will stay dry. We may just be losing cloud cover by sunrise Wednesday. We'll start the day with clearing skies and temperatures in the low 60s.

EXTENDED: Some cumulus clouds may redevelop Wednesday afternoon, but more sunshine warms us back into the 80s. Temperatures stick in the 80s through the beginning of next week, with upper level northerly flow keeping temperatures in check. We're dry and clear on Thursday, but upper level flow brings a low pressure system into close proximity which will begin to create rain chances for us by Friday. Chances for showers and storms linger through the weekend.
