Four arrested in Cole County armed robbery

Four people were arrested after an armed robbery in which gunshots were fired late Wednesday just west of Jefferson City.

The Cole County Sheriff’s Department was sent tot he 5600 block of Scherr Drive a little before 11 p.m. in regard to a weapons offense, the department said in a news release. Investigators later determined the house had been the target of a robbery related to marijuana, the department said.

Deputies found the front door had been forced open and more than five shots were fired from inside and outside the house, the department said. Three people were detained at the scene and later arrested and a fourth person was arrested Thursday morning, all on suspicion of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.

The department did not release their names pending the filing of charges.
