Jays search for dominant voice after losing big senior class
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Jefferson City Jays hit the field Monday looking for who will step up and be the team's voice in the 2022 season.
As head coach Damon Wells enters his second season at JC, he says the group seems to be looking for it's identity after losing a big senior class last season.
"I think anytime you have a senior class with a large personality, the tendency once they leave is to try to look around to see who's going to have the dominant voice in the program. We need to make sure the dominant voice is the right voice and a voice that's worth hearing," Wells said.
The Jays barely made it over .500 last season finishing with a 6-5 record.
When talking about his team, Wells said we should think of them kind of like the stock market meaning the past failures will not hold them back for the future success.
To kick off the season, Jefferson City will go head-to-head with the Osage Indians on Aug. 26 at 7 p.m.
