Increasing clouds tonight, with rain by Thursday
TONIGHT: Clouds will increase through the night ahead of a cold front that will track through the region. A dry frontal passage is expected, however, we could see a spot showers before sunrise Wednesday. Overnight lows will hover in the mid 30s through most of the night, with clearing skies after 5 AM allowing temperatures to dip to just below freezing. It’ll feel colder outside, as breezy winds will keep wind chills in the low to mid 20s.
WEDNESDAY: Clouds will continue to clear out through the day, with plenty of sunshine expected into the afternoon hours. However, it will be a few degrees cooler than Tuesday, as afternoon highs only top out in the mid to upper 40s. The breezy conditions stick around Wednesday, with winds out of the west up to 13 mph.
EXTENDED: Another system is set to impact us as we head into Thursday, which will bring a better chance of rain. Initially areas north of Hwy 36 could see some light freezing rain Thursday morning, before a cold rain spreads into the region from the southwest. The rain stays with us throughout most of Thursday, with heavy rain possible near I-44. This could lead to favorable flooding areas to see a minimal risk of flooding. With the rain expected to linger into Friday, a brief shot of wintry mix is possible as cooler air begins to filter in, but little to no impacts are expected. We dry out as we head into the weekend, with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 40s and partly cloudy skies. Stay with ABC 17 News as we continue to fine tune our tracks and forecasts.
