A beautiful Tuesday brings highs back into the 50s

TUESDAY: Although it will be cold to start off the day, Tuesday afternoon will be one of the nicest days this week. With plenty of sunshine and breezy southwesterly winds, we’ll see highs top out in the low to mid 50s. It’s possible some isolated spots could briefly jump into the mid 50s, with southwestern Mid-Missouri having the best shot of doing that.

TONIGHT: Temperatures drop into the mid 30s, but luckily with increasing cloud coverage we will remain above freezing through the night. This is ahead of our next cold front. Winds will stay out of the southwest from 10-15 mph. At times, we may seem some gusty conditions. This will bring feels like temperatures down into the upper 20s.

EXTENDED: Our next weak cold front arrives tomorrow. This frontal boundary will have it’s origins in the Pacific Ocean, meaning we won’t see significantly cold air on the backside of the front. It’s possible as the front pulls through early Wednesday, we could see some spot showers across the region. However, any moisture will have to overcame a large layer of dry air. A better chance of rain arrives as we head into Thursday ahead of another system that will track through the region. It’s possible that most of Thursday could see a cold rain, with highs struggling to climb out of the mid 40s. If these showers persist overnight Thursday, we may see some changeover to snow on the backend of this system. Of course there will be some changes, so stay with ABC 17 News as we continue to fine tune our tracks and forecasts.
