Police investigate string of Mexico thefts

The Mexico Public Safety Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying people accused of stealing from Mexico, Missouri, businesses and vehicles on Tuesday.

One business in the 1300 block of W. Monroe Street had a window broken out as a result of an attempted burglary, MPSD officials said in a press release. A neighboring business also had a broken window and had $200 missing.

Police also responded to a shed nearby and found a motorcycle had been stolen.

Later on Tuesday, MPSD responded to the north central part of Mexico, Missouri, in reference to someone stealing from vehicles overnight. Approximately 10 vehicles were rummaged through, police said. One of the vehicles had a handgun stolen from it.

Anyone with information on any of the thefts is asked to call MPSD at 573-473-5800.
