Scattered snow showers to taper off into the evening

TUESDAY: It’s another chilly afternoon across Mid-Missouri, as overcast skies and light snow showers are keeping temperatures below freezing. Light snow showers will continue to impact areas east of Hwy 63 though the early evening hours before tapering off. Any accumulation will remain on the light side, with some slick spots possible on the roadways. High temperatures will only make it to near freezing. A west breeze at 5-10 mph will make it feel like the low 20s in the afternoon.

TONIGHT: Clouds begin to clear out this evening as temperatures drop back below freezing into the low to mid 20s by morning. As low temperatures bottom out by morning a steady westerly breeze up to 8 mph will make it feel like the teens.

EXTENDED: Wednesday, we will wake up to more sunshine with temperatures rebounding to 40 degrees by the afternoon. This is behind a warm front with winds shifting out of the southwest. The sunshine and warming will be short-lived as our next cold front is quick to follow Thursday. This will bring snow chances for Wednesday night into Thursday morning, ushering in cold air behind it. Minor snow accumulation is possible Thursday with anywhere from a dusting to an inch and a half. Highs will reach the lower 30s Thursday early in the day but fall into the 20s by 6 PM and into the upper teens by early Friday morning. We’ll stay below freezing through early Sunday morning. A southern storm system will bring a chance of snow south of Hwy 50 by late Saturday afternoon and Saturday night.
