Kenneth Suttner wrongful death lawsuit to be heard in Boone County

The wrongful death lawsuit filed after a teenager’s suicide has been moved to Boone County court.

Angela Suttner, the mother of Kenneth Suttner, initially filed the lawsuit against Glasgow Public Schools in Howard County. In August, it was moved to federal court, where a judge dismissed several claims.

According to online court records, the case was moved to Boone County on Monday. A judge approved the change of venue on Nov. 26. Chip Gentry, attorney for Suttner, said that Howard County’s familiarity with the case would make it difficult for them to get an unbiased jury.

Suttner filed the lawsuit against the district, formally known as the Howard County R-II School District. She alleged students and some employees bullied, harassed and discriminated against Kenneth Suttner for his mental and physical disabilities throughout his time in the district, driving him to suicide.

The school district filed a motion to dismiss in November.
