Chase starts in Jefferson City, ends in Osage County
A man has been charged in Cole County with resisting arrest after a chase that ended in Osage County.
The chase began when Jefferson City police tried to pull over a vehicle in the 300 block of West Dunklin and the driver took off, according to a probable cause statement. The chase lasted only about 10 minutes but reached speeds higher than 100 mph through two counties, according to the statement.
The chase ended on Highway 50 in Osage County and the driver, later identified as Trevon T. Jackson, 21, of Kansas City, was arrested. Authorities found a small amount of marijuana and a Glock handgun reported stolen out of Jackson County, Missouri in the car, the statement said.
Jackson admitted the marijuana and handgun were his and that he ran from police because he bought the gun on the street and believed it was stolen, the probable cause statement said. Police said Jackson also did not have a valid license.
Jackson was charged Sunday with resisting arrest. No lawyer was listed for Jackson in online court records. He was also wanted on a robbery warrant out of Jackson County. He jailed on a $10,000 cash-only bond.
