Third Columbia teen tied to robberies

A third Columbia teen has been charged in connection with a string of robberies.

Deandre M. Henderson, 19, was charged Monday with felony stealing for his alleged role in robberies in September on Elm Grove Drive and October on Brown Station Road. Henderson, along with Dea’vion Payne and William Harper, were creating fake social media accounts on the pretense of selling items then robbing people after arranging meetings with them, according to a probable cause statement.

A person robbed of $200 and an iPhone on Elm Grove Drive on Sept. 25 told police Henderson held a handgun during the robbery and was accompanied by four other men. Police also tied Henderson to a robbery of $900 on Oct. 31 in the 4400 block of Brown Station Road by identifying him on surveillance video, the statement said.

Payne also told police of Henderson’s involvement in the Oct. 31 robbery, the statement said.

Henderson also faces a charge of stealing a gun in a case filed last week. He was in the Boone County Jail on Tuesday on a total $100,000 cash-only bond.
