Beautiful evening, with rain arriving for Black Friday

TONIGHT: Clouds build tonight as temperatures drop towards 40 degrees. It will be dry through the night, but our next wave of rain will be just to the west of the area by morning. Winds out of the south from 10-14 mph will create for wind chills in the low to mid 30s for any early morning Black Friday shopping.

BLACK FRIDAY: Rain is likely near Hwy 65 as early as 6 AM and will gradually spread to the east through the day. While the first part of the morning will be dry for some parts of the region, everyone will see widespread rain through the day. With clouds and rain remaining through Friday, temperatures will remain in the upper 40s through most of the afternoon hours, with wind chills in the upper 30s and lower 40s. It’ll be a windy day as well, with winds gusting out of the south up to 26 mph. Rainfall amounts will amount to less than .60″ for all of Mid-Missouri and will come to an end into Friday evening.

EXTENDED: Saturday looks dry and mild with highs in the mid to upper 50s under partly sunny skies. Another storm system moving in from the southwest will bring a chance of rain Sunday followed by colder air. As the colder air moves in with breezy winds shifting out of the northwest, the rain is expected to change over to snow by the afternoon and evening. Right now it looks more likely to see snow in areas north of I-70 but this could change depending on where the storm system ends up. Impacts look minimal for most of Mid-Missouri, but if you are traveling north into the weekend, you may want to leave earlier. The greatest impacts will be felt along and north of Hwy 24. What we will be watching for is windy conditions Sunday, with winds gusting up to 35 mph. High winds will create some travel impacts, especially on highways and interstates. If you have travel plans for Sunday into Monday, keep an eye on the forecast. The start of next week looks cold with highs only in the 30s and nights in the lower 20s as the winter weather pattern returns.
