Jefferson City Police Continue search for shooter
The Jefferson City Police Department iscontinuing its search for the shooter or shooters involved in a 19-year-old death.
Police said Monday evening they received multiple reports of shots fired on the 1900 Block of Stadium Boulevard. Upon their arrival, they found 19-year-old Nilez Nichols dead with multiple gunshots wounds.
ABC 17 spoke with the woman who lives inside the home, she said she was roommates with Nichols.
She did not want to be identified, but she said she heard arguing and then multiple shots fired just below her bedroom.
“He was such a sweet boy,” she said.
Lt. David Williams with JCPS said investigators are working around he clock right now.
“We are trying to locate those three men that were leaving the scene, immediately after the gunshots,” Williams said.
Police said they are working several leads.
Williams said they believe this was an isolated event and specific to Nichols and that investigators have reason to believe the shooters are young.
“We believe that the group is going to all be in their teens,” he said. “It’s not something that we believe that there’s a big age gap at this point.”
Police said Jefferson City area CrimeStoppers have raised their reward to $1,000.
JCPD is asking for the community’s help and to call them if you known any further information at 634-6400 or CrimeStoppers at 659-TIPS.
