Hearing set for woman accused in cop’s killing

A woman accused of killing a Clinton, Missouri, police officer has a court appearance scheduled for next year.

Prosecutors are seeking a death sentence for Tammy Widger, who is accused in the March shooting death of Officer Ryan Morton. Authorities say Widger helped James Waters in a deadly shootout with police that also left two other officers hurt.

A judge decided this month that a Boone County jury would be brought in to hear the Henry County case. A hearing in the case is set for March in Clinton.
