Mid-Missouri Business Week: Medical marijuana industry to bring jobs, revenue to the state

Two weeks ago, Missourians passed Amendment 2, legalizing medical marijuana in the state.

There will be a 4 percent tax on the drug, of which most of the tax revenue will go toward veterans’ services.

Jack Cardetti, the campaign consultant for New Approach Missouri, said he anticipates huge benefits to the economy of Missouri through the medical marijuana industry.

“The state auditor believes that this will generate somewhere around $18 million annually to the state toward veterans’ services. It will additionally bring in about $6 million more for local governments,” Cardetti said.
