Storm system to bring light snow to parts of Mid-Missouri beginning tonight
***WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR GASCONADE, MARIES, MONTGOMERY, PHELPS & PULASKI COUNTIES FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON UNTIL 6 PM THURSDAY***
TODAY: Bundle up as you head out the door, as it is bitterly cold outside. Temperatures are sitting in the teens and will be slow to rise through the day. We’ll see plenty of sunshine, with afternoon highs topping out in the mid 30s, with any remaining snow pack expected to melt. We’ll see some passing clouds increasing from our south, ahead of our next system that will bring light snow to parts of Mid-Missouri starting later this evening.
TONIGHT: Light snow is expected to increase near I-44, ahead of our next storm system that will bring accumulation to parts of the region. There will be clear skies to the northwest, with temperatures dipping into the upper teens tonight, with mostly cloudy skies to the southeast and temperatures holding into the mid 20s. Areas as far north and west as Hwy 54 could see some light snow tonight, but the greatest chance exists near I-44.
EXTENDED: There will be a sharp cutoff in snowfall totals Thursday with a dusting expected near Hwy 54 approaching 2 inches near I-44. Localized heavier amounts are possible, but will likely only exist near I-44 and eastward. Heaviest snow with this system will occur across far eastern Missouri, where snowfall totals could top out near 6 inches of snow. Temperatures will rise Thursday but only reaching near 40 at best, which is still chilly for mid-November. Friday looks to be the nicest day of the week, as we squeeze out some 50s across the region, before another shot of cold air knocks us back into the 30s by Sunday. We are watching for possible light snow Saturday night which could produce minor accumulation into Sunday morning.
