Tracking the return of summer heat this week

TODAY: Isolated showers and storms are possible across the southern half of the area early in the day. Skies clear up in the afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 80s.

TOMORROW: Summer heat returns quickly as highs jump to the mid-90s. Low chance for storms in the late afternoon.

EXTENDED: High pressure building to our southwest will kick off a warming trend the next few days that brings brutal heat by midweek. I'm tracking a cold front trying to squeeze through this heat on Monday afternoon but rain chances are low and any storms that form will remain isolated. By Tuesday and Wednesday highs will reach the mid/upper 90s and increased humidity will send the feels-like to near 105 degrees. Luckily another cold front is poised to impact the region early Thursday and bring relief from the worst of the heat. Still, temperatures are trending above average late week in the lower 90s.
