Unsettled pattern continues, “Winter-like” cold arrives by end of week

TONIGHT: A cold front will track through the area this evening, bringing an area of widespread showers, especially after 9pm. Temperatures don’t move all that much overnight. We stay in the upper 40s and low 50s through sunrise tomorrow. Winds stay steady up to 25 mph.

SUNDAY: You’ll likely need the umbrella as you head out the door in the morning. Rain showers look likely, especially for places along and east of HWY 63. Those will last through 11am, with most of us drying out after 12pm… clouds will hang tough. Temperatures hold in the low the mid 50s, with winds out of the WSW at 10-15 mph.

EXTENDED: Another round of rain arrives by Monday afternoon, ahead of another cold front. Fortunately, at least for now, these systems are keeping the pattern fairly progressive. No big time cool downs through Wednesday. Then… the atmosphere will switch up this game plan. Much of the long-range data is hinting at a large chunk of cold, arctic air making it’s way into the middle of the United States. This will be preceded by a strong cold front Thursday which looks to bring another round of precipitation. Whether or not we see that precip and cold interact… is to be determined.
