Tracking showers and storms developing overnight, becoming widespread Monday

TONIGHT: Showers and storms developing overnight, increasing in coverage by daybreak. Lows in the upper 60s to around 70.

TOMORROW: Showers and storms likely. Highs in the upper 70s to around 80.

EXTENDED: We're tracking a slow-moving front that has triggered a few spotty showers and storms, t widespread development isn't expected until late tonight as low level winds surge along the frontal boundary. Tomorrow will be a soggy day with showers and storms continuing all day. That will keep highs right around 80 degrees. Tomorrow night, another round of storms could bring heavy rain along I-70 through Tuesday morning. The severe weather threat will be low, but we'll have to watch for ponding on the roads. On Tuesday, the front will begin to lift back north as a warm front, bringing in warmer temperatures near 90 degrees. Any storms that develop in the afternoon or evening could bring locally heavy rain and a few strong wind gusts. Rounds of storms will continue through Thursday as the front slides back south, bringing temperatures back into the mid-60s for lows and mid-80s for highs at the end of the week. We'll enjoy a pleasant Friday and Saturday with the boundary staying across northern Arkansas. The best chance of rain next weekend will be across southern Missouri on Sunday near the stalled front. Rain totals could exceed 2" for the entire week, with the majority falling on Monday and Tuesday. This will help out the severe drought conditions across the southern third of the state, and in Mid-Missouri where we're more than 3.5" below average on rain for the summer.
