Three people shot in Jefferson City
Three people have been shot in the central part of Jefferson City, according to the Jefferson City Police Department.
Several police cars were parked on Montana Street for hours Thursday afternoon, where crime tape also was up and several evidence markers were on the ground.
ABC 17 News crews were on scene at Pike Street and Montana Street; Montana Street was completely blocked off. Police also blocked off Myrtle Avenue, which connects to Pike Street. ABC 17’s Kyle Oster observed CSI vehicles, police tape and evidence markers at the scene on Montana and Pike.
Police said they stopped a car after they saw it speed off and found three people with gunshot wounds that were not life threatening — two males and one female. Police said the gunshot victims were not cooperating with investigators. Police took them to the hospital.
ABC 17 News spoke to one resident in the area who said crime is not uncommon. Another man, whose mother lives in the area, said he was thankful no children were hurt because kids play outside all the time.
This is a developing story and will be updated with information as it is available.
