Southern Boone teacher charged with child enticement

A teacher and assistant football coach at the Southern Boone School District has been indicted on a child enticement charge.

Teneil S. Stevenson was indicted by a grand jury last month in a Callaway County court on a single count of attempted enticement of a child less than 15 years old between May 1 and Aug. 31. According to the indictment, Stevenson sent the child suggestive electronic messages and photos to a child living in Callaway County. The charge is a felony.

Stevenson was put on paid administrative leave on Sept. 4 from the school district, Southern Boone Superintendent Chris Felmlee said. He declined Tuesday to discuss other details about the case.

Stevenson worked last year for the Fulton School District. He is certified by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to teach health and physical education.

Fulton Superintendent Jacque Cowherd said no evidence of misconduct was ever brought to the district’s attention while Stevenson worked for Fulton in the 2017 to 2018 school year.

Stevenson turned himself in to the Boone County Jail on Oct. 12 and was released on a $50,000 bond.
