Damp and Cold, Late-November-Weather makes an appearance in Mid-Missouri

THIS AFTERNOON: Clouds and unseasonably cool weather hold heavy across Mid-Missouri this afternoon, a complete 180 from what we saw to kick off last weekend. We hold in the low to mid 40s throughout the rest of the day with light to moderate rain showers continuing through the afternoon hours, becoming more hit or miss by dinner time. Winds stay calm.

TONIGHT: By this evening showers will retreat to the southeast from 6 – 8 PM. Some areas south of Jefferson City may see lingering showers for the kickoff of high school football, but we are going to see drying conditions through the game. It will be cold through game time with temperatures in the low 40s and some upper 30s. Temperatures continue to drop tonight with a low of 36 by morning. With calm winds we could see some areas of frost develop by morning.

EXTENDED: The weekend starts off on a cold note with temperatures eventually rising into the 50s by Saturday under a mix of sun and clouds. The remnants of Tropical Storm Sergio from the Pacific will track inland with impacts felt across the Plains and into the Midwest. As of now, the best chance of rain for Saturday night into early Sunday morning is south of I-70 as the system tracks across northern Arkansas. An additional .50″ to an inch of rain is possible as we head into Saturday, with the better chance near I-44. Temperatures will stay cool Sunday with highs only in the low 50s. Rain looks to continue as we head into Sunday night and Monday ahead of a cold front that will bring the return to cooler conditions. It’s possible we could see our first widespread frost/freeze as we head into the start of next week. Keep up to date with the latest forecast on-air and online with ABC 17 News.
